• Moniuszko International Vocal Competition winds up in Warsaw

Eliza Kruszynska won the Grand Prix of the 7th Stanislaw Moniuszko International Vocal Competition which wound up in Warsaw on Thursday.

 

The 34 year old singer is a graduate of the Pescara Music Academy in Italy. At the competition, she represented both Italy and Poland. Eliza Kruszynska also received the award for the best soprano .Among the laureates are  two female singers from Poland: Aleksandra Kubas and Katarzyna Oles Blacha, singer from Russia Gelena Gaskarowa. In the category of best male voices the prizes went to Juryi Harazdecki from Belarus, Adam Plaka from Poland and Andryi Bondarenko from Ukraine.

 

The Moniuszko Competition was headed by renowned Polish tenor Wieslaw Ochman. Over 100 singers from 20 countries took part in this year’s event. The final third stage of the competition saw thirteen artists  competing for the main prize.

 

The winners are to appear at a special, gala concert at the National Opera this evening. (ab)
