• AC/DC electrify Warsaw
  • 28.05.2010

Around 65,000 heavy metal fans snapped up tickets last night to see legendary Australian rockers, AC/DC’s gig in Warsaw.

A giant stage was erected topped with huge red, flaring horns and backed with a PA system with enough mega-wattage at Bemowo airport so AC/DC could be heard not just in the vicinity of the stage but also some kilometers away.

Fans flocked to the event from all over Poland, representing several generations. Parents with children, teenagers, students and middle aged heavy metal aficionados decked out in AC/DC t-shirts greeted the band. Guitarist Angus Young performed as usual in school-boy’s uniform, while ex-Geordie singer Brian Johnson not once disappointed, singing the oldies and the latest from group’s huge repertoire.

Polish fans have been waiting for an AC/DC concert for nearly 20 years. The last time the Australian hard rock group appeared in Chorzow was in 1991. Since then they have recorded just three new albums.

The Warsaw concert was part of a tour promoting last year’s album Black Ice which has already sold in over seven million copies. (ab/pg)
