French actress Juliette Binoche, who worked with the late Krzysztof Kieślowski in the 1990s, stars in a new feature film by Poland’s Małgorzata Szumowska.
Entitled Sponsoring, it is the story of a journalist who writes an article about prostitution among students. Location shooting, currently held in Paris, is also planned in Cologne.
Alongside Binoche and another French actress Anais Demoustrier, the cast includes leading Polish actors - Krystyna Janda, Andrzej Chyra and Joanna Kulig.
The film is a co-production of Zentropa International Poland, Zentropa International Koln and the French company Slot Machine.
Juliette Binoche starred in The Three Colours trilogy by the late Polish director Krzysztof Kieślowski. She is the honorary citizen of Częstochowa, the birthplace of her mother, Monika Stalens.
Małgorzata Szumowska’s credits include the highly-acclaimed 33 scenes from life. (mk)
