• Thrash metal big four in Warsaw
  • 16.06.2010

Thrash metal’s big four, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax are descending on Warsaw tonight for the Sonisphere Festival.

The line-up of the event is a headbanger’s dream come true, says music journalist Zbigniew Zegler, as the fans have been waiting for such a constellation since the mid-1980s.

The Sonisphere Festival is a series of concerts staged across Europe. The organizer, agency Livenation, has expressed hope that the festival would become a regular event in the capital.

Sonisphere brings together several dozen acts of different hues of rock and metal genres. It is therefore possible to host stars the likes of Iron Maiden, Rammstein or Mötley Crüe within two years, says Marta Wnuczyńska, from Livenation.

The capital’s Bemowo airport will open for the public at 2 p.m. Polish black/death metal band Behemoth will kick off the festival at 4 p.m. (ab)
