World-famous soprano, Kiri Te Kanawa, is billed at the Grand Opera Theatre in Łodź, central Poland, on Friday.
She will present a diverse repertoire comprising arias and songs by Moxzart, songs by Richard Strauss as well as songs by Bernstein and Gershwin, including Summertime.. She will be accompanied by the orchestra of the Grand Opera Theatre in Łódź conducted by Julian Reynolds.
Kiri Te Kanawa arrived in Łodź two days ago and has already had a rehearsal and saw some of the city’s sites. She asked the organizers not to place any flowers with a strong scent close to the stage and to have mineral water and camomile tea at hand.
Tomorrow’s recital is the final event of the 2009/2010 cultural season in Łódź. Last year the star of the end-of-season concert in the city was Placido Domingo. (mk)
