One of Britain’s most prominent contemporary composers Paul Patterson is to receive an award from the Polish Composers’ Union.
Patterson is known for his orchestral, choral and chamber music and is a Professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
In 1987 he received the Order of Merit for Polish Culture from the Polish Ministry of Culture.
Ruta Staneviciuie from Lithuania is another foreign composer being awarded by the composers’ union. The renowned musicologist has published extensively on Polish music and its reception in Lithuania. She regularly takes part in festivals of Polish contemporary music and organizes Polish-Lithuanian musicological conferences.
The award-presentation ceremony will be held during the Warsaw Autumn International Contemporary Music Festival in September. (mk)
