Founded in 1993, Camerimage is the brainchild of Marek Zydowicz. It was initally held in Torun, central Poland. As a result of conflicts with the local authorities, the event moved to Lodz, Poland’s filmmaking center, in 2000. Last month, Zydowicz unilaterally broke off the agreement for the organization of this year’s event, citing as a reason the City Council’s decision to cross off a Camerimage Festival Center from the list of planned investment projects.
Camerimage is considered among the world’s most prestigious festival devoted exclusively to the art of cinematography. This year’s edition will be held from 27 November to 4 December. (mk/mmj)
