Poland’s leading orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia, is billed today in the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris, conducted by Jacek Kaspszyk, with  Poland’s Piotr Paleczny as the soloist.

The concert is the last in a series of four open-air Sunday concerts of Chopin’s music in Luxembourg Gardens, organized to celebrate the Chopin Year, the 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth. A week ago, one of Poland’s top jazz pianists Leszek Mozdzer performed in the same venue.

The concert series is accompanied by an exhibition of posters on the theme of Chopin and his music, from the collection of the Poster Museum in Warsaw. An exhibition of iconography, musical documents and correspondence entitled ‘Chopin and His Contemporaries’ is on show at the Polish Library in Paris until 15 December. (mk/mmj)
