• Polish Radio Symphony on musical voyage
  • 24.07.2010

Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Britain, France and Poland are on the itinerary of a tour of the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra with a programme comprising the works of Chopin and Debussy’s La Mer (The Sea).

The orchestra’s Music Director Jacek Kaspszyk will conduct all the concerts  and Poland’s Ewa Kupiec will be the soloist.

On board the sailing frigate ‘Dar młodzieży’ the orchestra will call in the ports of Copenhagen, Goeteborg, Oslo, Dover, Boulogne-sur-Mer and Gdynia. The voyage begins on 7 September.  Its last stage refers to Chopin’s historic journey from France to England in 1848. He sailed from Boulogne-sur-Mer to Folkstone, from where he took a train to London. He spent seven months in England, from 20 April to 23 November, giving lessons and concerts in public venues and aristocratic salons.

In 2006, the National Polish Radio SO visited Latvia, Estonia and Finland on board the ‘Dar młodzieży’. (mk/mmj)
