The fifth OFF Festival, a three-day celebration of alternative music, kicks off in the Katowice, southern Poland.
This year – and unusually for a indie festival - the event is dedicated to the bicentenary of the birth of Polish composer Fryderyk Chopin. The event will be opened by a project by the Matmos duo entitled Inspired by Chopin. The concert will begin at 9.30 pm CET at the Hipnoza Jazz Club in Katowice.
The festival will feature a total of 90 live gigs by artists from Poland and abroad. The programme highlights include The Flaming Lips, Dinosaur Jr., Lao Che and Pustki.
This is the first time the festival is organized in Katowice, following a relocation from Mysłowice, where it was first launched in 2006.
