The programme of the month-long event has comprised over fifty concerts with the participation of such household names as Martha Argerich,  Maria João Pires, Nelson Freire, Ian Hobson, Fou Ts’ong, Howard Shelley, Dang Thai Son,  Janusz Olejniczak and Ewa Pobłocka. Featured ensembles included the Orchestra of the 18th Century under Frans Bruggen, the Orchestre des Champs-Elysees conducted by Philippe Herreweghe,  The Tallis Scholars, The King’s Singers and the Paco Pena Flamenco Company.

The  ‘Chopin and his Europe’ Festival, held for the sixth time, was one of the highlights of the Chopin Year, the 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth. (mk)
