Polish vocalist Marika has given a concert at the Polish Pavilion at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.

Marika is currently promoting her latest album Put your shoes on / off, a mixture of reggae, soul and dancehall.

Marika told Polish Radio that singing in Polish is challenging for the Chinese audience and communication was better in between songs when she talked to them in English. “Polish is a very exotic language for Chinese”, she noted.

The Polish vocalist is just one of the cultural offerings which are part of the Polish Pavilion attractions at Expo 2010. Jazz pianist Leszek Mozdzer has already performed there and there will also be a series of concerts of Chopin music to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth. (pg)
