The ballet company of the National Opera in Warsaw is in China with two performances of its recent production – Chopin, a Romantic Artist – at the Shanghai Oriental Art Centre.
The local symphony orchestra is conducted by Tadeusz Kozłowski, Chief Conductor of the National Opera, and the prominent Polish pianist Krzysztof Jabłoński appears as soloist.
The performances are organized by the Warsaw-based Adam Mickiewicz Institute within the framework of the Chopin Year 2010 and the World EXPO Exhibition in Shanghai.
Later this month (26-28 September), the Polish National Ballet will perform at the Den Nye Opera in Bergen in three pieces to music by Polish composers Paweł Szymański, Grażyna Bacewicz and Aleksandra Gryka.
The performances are part of a Polish-Norwegian exchange project. (mk)
