A ceremony laying the foundation stone for the National Music Forum has been held in Wrocław.
The Director of the Wrocław Philharmonic, Andrzej Kosendiak, has said that the project will be a fulfillment of dreams of many generations of the city residents.
The National Music Forum is to be one of the most modern music centre in Poland, comprising a concert hall seating over 1800, three chamber halls, conference facilities, an exhibition space, a recording studio, a library and a bookshop. It will be the seat of the Orchestra and Chorus of the Wrocław Philharmonic, the Leopoldinum Chamber Orchestra and the Wrocław Baroque Orchestra.
The project is to be completed by the end of 2012. Almost a half of its total cost will be covered from EU funds. (mk)
