  • 17.09.2010
Antoni Wit, Music Director of the Warsaw Philharmonic, has become Principal Guest Conductor of the Orquestra Sinfonica de Navarra. Based in Pamplona, one of the oldest Spanish orchestra, founded in 1879 by the legendary violinist and composer Pablo Sarasate, a native of Pamplona.

Wit has signed a contract for three seasons. He told Polish Radio’s Information Agency IAR that the post of Principal Guest Conductor will give him an opportunity to promote Polish music.

He also said that even though he will conduct only several concerts with the Warsaw Philharmonic during the 2010/11 season, it will be a time of a very busy recording schedule.

They will continue recordings for Naxos (the complete vocal-instrumental works of Antonín Dvořák and Johannes Brahms). Wit’s recent projects for Naxos with the Warsaw Philharmonic include Penderecki’s Credo and Chopin’s complete works for piano and orchestra, with Eldar Nebolsin as soloist. (mk)
