Treasures of Poland - Rembrandt and the Precious Royal Collection is the title of an exhibition currently on display at the Fuji Art Museum in Tokyo.

Two paintings by Rembrandt feature from the collection of the last Polish king, Stanisław August Poniatowski, Bernardo Bellotto’s canvasses depicting views of Warsaw from the collection of Warsaw’s Royal Castle, Flemish tapestries from Wawel Castle in Kraków and works by the prominent Polish painters of the 19th and 20th centuries (Matejko, Chełmoński, Mehoffer, Malczewski, Pankiewicz, Siemiradzki).

The exhibition also features objects connected with famous Poles – Nicolas Copernicus, Maria Skłodowska-Curie and Fryderyk Chopin.

From Tokyo the exhibition will go to Osaka, Kitakiusiu and Hiroshima. It is expected that it may attract up to half a million viewers during its Japanese tour. (mk)
