• Kinopolis film festival begins in Dublin

The Polish Film Festival in Dublin opened this week with Reverse the much-acclaimed feature film by Borys Lankosz.

This year’s programme of the festival, now in its fifth year, features a number of outstanding Polish productions from 2010 and embraces 24 films - nine features, five documentaries, nine shorts and a selection of student films.

Among the best known are the history Polish rock, Beats of Freedom directed by Wojciech Słota and Leszek Gnoiński, Snow White and Russian Red by Xawery Zulawski ,The Dark House by Wojciech Smarzowski and three films by Feliks Falk: Top Dog, The Collector and Case Unknown.

Featured guests at the festival include Feliks Falk, Xawery Zulawski and actress Maria Strzelecka, documentary maker and camera man Marcin Koszałka and Włodzimierz Niderhaus, producer and director of the Documentary and Feature Film Production Company in Warsaw

The idea behind Dublin KINOPOLIS Polish Film Festival is to promote the culture of one of the biggest minorities living in Ireland.

The first edition of the festival was held in 2006, and the event is directed towards Irish people and foreigners inhabiting the Green Island, as well as the Poles who living abroad are not always familiar with the recent Polish productions. (ab)
