• All the world’s a stage – in Bydgoszcz
  • 15.11.2010

Twice a month, a theatre in the mid-northern city of Bydgoszcz will open up its stage to people willing to hop on it to perform, stage a play, air opinions or even propose to a girlfriend.

“We have called this project the ‘Neighbourly Stage’. We want people to come to us not only to watch a play or take part in discussions but also to join in meetings, informal chats or to tell about their problems,” Teatr Polski’s director Pawel Lysak tells Gazeta Wyborcza.

Project coordinator Anna Wlodarska says they are looking for letters from both young and older people describing what they want to do on stage. The theatre will take care of lighting, sound and will help with stage designing. The performers, themselves, would have to attract the audience, though.

“This is an invitation to a crazy type of Hyde Park,” director Lysak says, hoping that the idea will be taken up by inventive and creative people.  (kk)
