Composer Henryk Mikolaj Gorecki, who died at the age of 76 last Friday, will be laid to rest today.

A funeral Mass will be held at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Katowice, southern Poland.

The Mass said by Cardinal Franciszek Macharski will be preceded by a farewell concert with the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra and combined choirs from Katowice and Krakow.

Gorecki, whose recordings sold in their millions during the 1990s, died after a long illness. (pg)
