Renowned film director Roman Polanski and his film “The Ghost Writer” have picked up six prizes at the 23rd European Film Awards held on Saturday in the Estonian capital, Tallinn.

 

Polanski was given the awards for Best European Film, Best European Director, and Best European Screenwriter, the last of which he jointly picked up with the English novelist Robert Harris.

 

The Scottish actor Ewan McGregor also picked up a prize for Best European Actor for his role in “The Ghost Writer”, with Albrecht Konrad and Alexandre Desplat receiving awards for production design and music composition respectively.

 

Polish short-film producer Katarzyna Klimkiewicz also scooped an award in Tallinn for her short feature “Warsaw-Hanoi”. (jb)
