• ‘Genesis’ in Poland - and then there was one

The Genesis Klassik show in Warsaw tonight opens the Polish tour of the former Genesis lead singer Ray Wilson with the Berlin Symphony Ensemble.

The new project, which brings the timeless Genesis classics in classical string arrangements, will also be presented in Kielce, Krakow. Zabrze, Gdansk, Bydgoszcz and Poznan.

Ray Wilson, who sang briefly with the British group after Phil Collins left, told Polish Radio that this project differs from symphony ventures realized by other artists.

“It’s a bit different from all of these projects because they did it with an orchestra. The music becomes, kind of, overcome and overtaken by the orchestra. With the ensemble it doesn’t work like that. We basically took the keyboards and replaced it with the string quartet and the classical piano. So, it’s different to any of the other, like what Peter Gabriel’s been doing, what Sting has been doing,” he said.

Apart from the greatest Genesis hits, the bill of fare includes solo numbers of its vocalists Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel. (kk/pg)
