Sting is the star at tonight’s gala concert to mark the 85th anniversary of Polish Radio. President Bronislaw Komorowski has confirmed his presence.
The concert will also promote the new moje.polskieradio.pl service, creating 85 mini radio stations available through the web.
Sting will perform four hits from his latest LP ‘Symphonicities’, accompanied by the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Adam Sztaba.
The concert in Warsaw’s Polski Theatre, to be broadcast live on Polish Radio Three and Polish Television, Channel Two, also feature the Dutch jazz vocalist Caro Emerald and such household names in Polish pop as Anna Maria Jopek, Robert Gawliński and Maciej Maleńczuk and the groups Perfect, T.Love and Raz Dwa Trzy.
It will be Sting’s eighth visit to Poland. The first one was in 1996. He gave three concerts in Warsaw (1996, 2001, 2005), two in the Silesian capital of Katowice (1997, 2000), one in Chorzów’s Slaski Stadium (2008) and one in Poznań, during the opening ceremony of the new football stadium in September this year.
