• Sting honoured during Polish Radio gala

British performance legend Sting sung at Polish Radio’s 85th anniversary gala concert, Friday, and was also awarded with an Honorary Golden Microphone, a prize handed out by Poland’s national broadcaster since 1969.

 

The Teatr Polski in downtown Warsaw was the venue for Polish Radio’s gala, which was attended by President Bronislaw Komorowski as well as other celebrities from political, cultural and media circles.

 

Sting sung four items from his last release “Symphonicities”, and took to the stage with the accompaniment of the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Adam Sztaba.

 

Director of Polish Radio, Jaroslaw Hasinski awarded the British artist with an Honorary Golden Microphone “for incredible artistic endeavours” as well as the “positive emotions and brilliant compositions which have been played on Polish Radio’s airwaves over the past few decades.”

 

Polish bands, including household names such as Perfect, T.Love, Raz Dwa Trzy, Maciej Malenczuk and Anna Maria Jopek also took part in the gala performance. The gala was broadcast live on Polish Radio 3 as well as Polish Television, TVP2. (jb)
