Vocalist Randy Crawford, pianist Joe Sample and sax player Joe Lovano are among the foreign stars at the ‘Jazz on the Odra’ Festival which opened last night in Wroclaw, south-western Poland.

The line-up of musicians billed at the event includes the European Jazz Ensemble which brings together top jazzmen from Germany, France and Britain, joined by Polish trumpeter Piotr Wojtasik.

The biggest Polish highlight is a joint project by the pianist Leszek Możdzer and the violinist Krzesimir Dębski.

The ‘Jazz on the Odra’ Festival is one of the oldest events on its kind in Poland. It is held for the 47th time. (mk)
