Ringo Starr, one of the two surviving Beatles and singer of much loved hits such as Yellow Submarine and Octopus’s Garden, will play Poland this summer.

It was our initiative, so that at least one of the Beatles would be welcomed by the Vistula,” said a delighted Magdalena Poskart from the firm Makroconcert.

Ringo Starr will be playing in Warsaw on June 15. The venue will be the Congress Hall of the Palace of Culture and Science, site of the famed Rolling Stones concert of 1967.

Tickets can be snapped up from Makroconcerts internet portal, or from outlets of the Empik chain. Sales start at 8 am tomorrow.

The negotiations to secure a concert by Ringo and his All-Starr Band have lasted over half a year.

“They were not easy,” says Poskart, “and it was only yesterday was it finally possible to dot the proverbial  i’s and cross the t’s.” (nh)
