Irena Kwiatkowska (1912-2011). Photo: PAPThe funeral of celebrated actress Irena Kwiatkowska, who died on 3 March at the age of 98, took place today, Monday.
The funeral ceremony was held at the Holy Cross church in Warsaw, and was attended by a number of notables from the world of Polish culture, as well as Minister for Culture Bogdan Zdrojewski.
Meanwhile, it has been announced that the Baltic resort of Ustka is to install a memorial bench on its seafront promenade.
The move comes as Kwiatkowska was known to visit the resort practically every year, sitting on the same bench after her afternoon strolls.
“Mrs Kwiatkowska always used to sit on the bench by Zeromskiego street,” Jacek Cegla, spokesman for the Mayor of Ustka told Polish Radio, adding that “residents and tourists alike would sit down by her and have a chat.” (jb)
