• EU Youth Orchestra performs in Poland

The European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO)  is billed in the city of Łodź tonight under the German conductor Claus Peter Flor in works by Wagner, Liszt and the Polish composer Karol Szymanowski.


The 120-strong ensemble brings together musicians in the 14-24 age bracket from all EU member states. There are six Poles playing in the orchestra at present.

The concert in Łódź is the crowning of the orchestra’s two-week residence in the city in preparation for a European tour which also comprises Budapest, Belgrade, Zagreb, Ravenna and Milan.

The EUYO was founded in 1978 in London. It is financed from the EU budget. Its current Music Director is Vladimir Ashkenazy. (mk)
