One of the world’s most successful musicals, Les Miserables is having its 200th performance at Warsaw’s Roma Theatre tonight. The management has promised some special surprises for the audience. The show premiered on 25 September 2010 and has so far attracted close on 200, 000 people.
The artistic director of Roma, Wojciech Kępczyński, hopes that Les Miserables will prove more successful than the company’s previous production - The Phantom of the Opera – which had an audience of 700, 000.
The highlights of the Warsaw production of
Les Miserables have been released on CD.
Both Les Miserables and
The Phantom of the Opera have been the so-called non-replica production, that is devised by the director and designers of the Roma Theatre and approved of by Cameron Macintosh, the British producer of the shows.
Both were directed by Wojciech Kępczynki, the main architect of Roma’s numerous successes, which also include
Miss Saigon,
Cats,
Crazy for You and
Grease.
