Diminutive American pop legend Prince, who has also been voted “the world's sexiest vegetarian” has just been confirmed as the final headliner for this year's Heineken Open'er Festival.

Not only will it be the singer's first performance in Poland, it will also be his first foray into the former Eastern Bloc.

Festival organiser Mikolaj Ziolkowski announced the news this morning, noting that a friend who represented a host of world class acts had said that if Prince performs at the festival, he'll “ believe in miracles.”

Prince will take the stage on 2 July, which will mark the tenth anniversary of the first Open'er Festival.

“We tried very hard to make this evening special,” Ziolkowski assures, “a real musical banquet.. and this night's going to go down in history.”

If that's not enough, headliners already confirmed for other nights number Pulp, Coldplay, The Strokes, The Wombats and The National.

Acts set to strut their stuff on smaller stages include Cut Copy, Crystal Fighters, Caribou, Kate Nash, and Fat Freddy's Drop. More bands are still to be confirmed.

Following on from the last few Open'er festivals, the event will be held at the Baltic city of Gdynia. This year's incarnation kicks off on 30 June, closing late on 3 July. (nh)
