Belarusian authorities falsely lay blame on the Nazis for the Katyn massacre, writes RZECZPOSPOLITA.

The Belarusian government is lying about the Katyn massacre, informs RZECZPOSPOLITA. A bulletin published by the Belarusian Defence Ministry writes that thousands of Polish military officers, war prisoners of 1939, were killed by the Nazis, not by the Soviet security service NKVD. It’s an old Soviet lie. After the collapse of communism Russia admitted that the crime had been committed by the NKVD in 1940, not the Nazis in 1941. The position of the Belarusian regime is appalling and the Polish government should react, claim various organisations and experts in Poland. ‘Belarus is generally a state of retired officers of the Soviet army, police and secret services. They are simply defending honor of their real homeland – the Soviet Union,’ says Professor Andrzej Nowak, a Polish historian quoted by the newspaper.

According to Russian newspaper RBK Daily, Poland is to allow Russian troops to stay on its territory permanently in case of situating the American anti-missile shield on the Polish soil. It’s a lie, writes DZIENNIK. Poland can agree for the Russian controls, from time to time, if Russia allows the Poles to control its bases in reward. This is unlikely, by the way. In any case, Poland will never accept the Russian army to be based on its territory – not after decades of being practically occupied by the Red Army after World War II, says the newspaper.

Elderly people are being humiliated in Poland, alarms the SUPER EXPRESS daily. Due to the recent Polish postmen strike, pensions delivery can be seriously postponed this month. At the same time, if one feels sick and tries to visit his GP in June, he will be lucky to see the doctor by the end of the year, as the national health service simply doesn’t work, writes the newspaper.

We are not to miss our deadline and will be ready for the Euro 2012, promises Polish Sport Minister Miroslaw Drzewiecki, quoted by the FAKT daily. Four years ahead of the next European Football Championships, to be co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine, both countries have already been accused of severe delays. Keeping their fingers crossed for the Polish national team, taking part in the current Euro tournament in Austria/Switzerland this month, the fans cannot stop thinking about the next championships, so important for Poland. ‘Please, trust me,’ appeals Drzewiecki. ‘Poland will not be deprived of organising the tournament. Our progress has been noticed and appreciated by the European football association UEFA,’ he adds.
