The Finance Ministry has prepared a secret document concerning the introduction of the euro in Poland.

Press reviewed by Agnieszka Bielawska.

Apparently the government is to adopt the document on Tuesday, writes DZIENNIK, though it all depends on whether the Prime Minister manages to convince President Lech Kaczynski and the head of the Law and Justice party, the president’s twin brother. The paper reminds that the aim is to introduce the common currency as of January 1st 2012, but for the project to start, a compromise is needed on necessary changes in the Constitution. DZIENNIK writes that the ruling Civic Platform hopes the adoption of the document on euro introduction will calm the financial markets in Poland.

And the situation is not good writes GAZETA WYBORCZA in an article entitled ‘The zloty is falling, the credits are growing’. No one expected it, comments the daily, the euro stood at 4 zlotys on Thursday, a price horrendously high as compared with the past months. The last such surge in the price of the euro was back in 2001, when economic crisis loomed writes GAZETA WYBORCZA. The financial market succumbed to panic while analysts concluded that predicting is dangerous. What is bad, GAZETA WYBORCZA winds is the credit price. The credits in Swiss francs grew by some few hundred zlotys only over the past month, which means that while the zloty is dropping the monthly installments become more expensive. Conclusion is that you pay what you owe every month, but in fact, the credit does not diminish.

Come winter and allergy is still there, writes RZECZPOSPOLITA in an alarming article on allergies. Once upon a time spring and summer with budding trees, flowers and hay, were the most hazardous seasons for allergy prone individuals, now the daily continues, air pollution, city life and too much... personal hygiene are a dangerous combination. For three years experts tested over 22 thousand Poles and reached the conclusion that allergies are no longer common in suburban and rural areas, on the contrary - over 40% of city inhabitants complained of some sort of allergy symptoms.

And the FAKT tabloid heralds an earthquake (yet another apparently) in Polish football. Former national coach, Janusz Wojcik, detained two days ago by Police in his Warsaw apartment on charges regarding corruption in Polish football, may drag several referees and football activists into the affair. Wojcik is unscrupulous writes FAKT and to decrease his charges he is willing to testify against others involved. The charges against Wojcik include fixing several matches, accepting bribes and cooperating with the football mafia.
