Korwin-Mikke – stop paying people to be unemployed!

31.05.2010

Right wing maverick presidential candidate Janusz Korwin-Mikke will probably not win many votes from the jobless on June 20, as he says he wants to abolish unemployment benefit.

Korwin-Mikke says he would take the money saved on paying peple to be unemployed and would give it to the armed forces.

“Giving to people who do not work, while the Polish Army needs money, is unacceptable " said Korwin-Mikke.

Though pro-armed forces, he thinks that young men’s lives are being wasted in an unwinnable war in Afghanistan, which does not bring Poland any tangible benefits.

On foreign policy, he is against Poland’s membership of the European Union. Poles "should not support the EU for the same reasons for which Russians should not support the Soviet Union," he says.

Korwin-Mikke announced that his election campaign video will be released on 6 June. The candidate for president has already published campaign stickers with the slogan: "We want petrol to cost 2 zloty per liter!”

Janusz Korwin-Mikke is a former leader of the real Politics Union and current leader of the Liberty and Legitimacy party. He is also a member of the Conservative-Monarchist Club and has often poured scorn on the democratic process and universal suffrage.

In opinion polls Korwin-Mikke regularly scores under one percent support. (pg/mg)
