Janusz Korwin-Mikke

Janusz Korwin-Mikke (67) is a conservative libertarian politician and former leader of the Union of Real Politics, which he co-founded in 1987. He left the party in 2009.

Korwin-Mikke studied maths, law, sociology and philosophy at the University of Warsaw. He was arrested twice by the communist police, and was thrown out of university for his role in the 1968 student riots. Two years later, extramural studies led him to finish a masters in philosophy.

He was elected into parliament only once, between 1991-1993. He has been a candidate in three presidential elections, this year’s campaign being his fourth consecutive attempt.

Korwin-Mikke is a bridge National Master and a publicist. He has six children from two marriages.
