Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk, now on a visit to Peru, has received the top Peruvian state distinction – the Sun of Peru - from President Alan Garcia.

Tusk said that though he was decorated, he regards this as a gesture of respect for Poles who played an important role in the life of Peru. The premier mentioned Ernest Malinowski, who built the Andean railway, Edward Habich, founder of the first university of technology in Latin America and Poles who discovered the Colca Canyon, the second deepest in the world.

After talks in the Presidential Palace, premier Tusk and president Garcia signed agreements on cooperation in tourism, culture, science and defense for the years 2008-2011.
