The Swedish band Oh Laura won the Amber Nightingale award last night with their hit Release me at the 45th Sopot International Song Festival.
The Polish group Pectus won the Audience Nightingale.
Seven artists competed for Amber Nightingale, the main award of the long-running festival. The six performers from abroad were chosen beforehand: Frenchman Matt Pokora (with Catch me if you can), Ukrainian Ruslana (Moon of dreams with T-Pain) and four Swedish artists - Danny (Tokyo), Oh Laura (Release me), Mans Zelmerlöw (Brother oh Brother) and Velvet (\Chemistry).
The seventh competitor was chosen from among five Polish artists who sang on Saturday: Formacja Nieżywych Schabuff, For Teens, Natalia Lesz, Pectus, and Video with Anna Wyszkoni. The jury chose Pectus.
Sunday, the second and last day of the festival, will take viewers back to the 80s thanks to such artist as Samantha Fox, Sabrina Salerno, Sandra Cretu, Kim Wilde, Limahl i Kajagoogoo, Shakin' Stevens, and Tomas Anders from Modern Talking. (mo)
