A 20-year-old skier has died on the Pilsko range in the Beskidy mountains, southern Poland.
The young man died when he went off course and hit a tree.
He was found by another skier who called for help, but in spite of an attempt at resuscitation the rescuers failed to save him.
This is not the first tragic skiing accident in the Polish mountains this winter. Only two weeks ago a 14-year-old boy died after he hit a fence during a too daring descent in Czara Gora near Zakopane, southern Poland. (jm)
