• Cable cars to go into private hands
  • 04.02.2009

Polish Cable Railways (PKL), the owner of the famous cable car to the summit of Kasprowy Wierch is to be privatised.

Currently the owner of 0.2 percent of the shares in PKL is the state railway giant PKP SA, the remaining 99.8 percent belongs to the ministry of infrastructure. But in fact it’s PKP who makes use of the shares and carries out the ownership rights in the name of the ministry.

“Currently PKP is preparing a tender for the privatisation which is to be settled in the second quarter of 2009,” said spokesman for PKP SA Michał Wrzosek.

PKL operates cable cars and chairlifts on the most popular ski mountains in Poland. (jm)
