• Change of weather brought down helicopter?
  • 18.02.2009

Extreme weather conditions could have been the cause of the Airport Rescue Service’s helicopter crashing near Wroclaw, Tuesday.

The helicopter was heading for the A4 highway to help people injured in a car accident. Two of the helicopter crew died in the crash. Andrzej Nabzdyk, a doctor, was the only one to survive the catastrophe.

The main commission at the Aircraft Accident Investigation unit is currently looking into the case.

According to the preliminary findings the accident was caused by a sudden weather change. The helicopter crashed during heavy snowfall and fog which restricted visibility to merely ten meters.

However, the members of the commission emphasize that these are only initial reports and a full assessment will be published within a month. (un/pg)
