A two-year-old girl was severely injured by icicles and snow falling from a four story building into her pram in Katowice, southern Poland.
The child’s 21-year-old mother was taking her on a walk and left her daughter in her pram under the care of her sister while she went into a shop. Hearing the baby start to cry and the older girl scream, the mother came out to find that snow and ice had fallen from the roof of a four-story building directly into the pram.
The two-year-old’s face was wounded and she was taken to the hospital for observation.
Police and emergency services were called to the scene. The supervisor of the building, which belongs to the government, is undergoing questioning. According to local police, building owners are responsible for removing ice and snow from their roofs or they face a severe penalty. (mmj)
