As the tax year draws to a close, President Lech Kaczynski has revealed his income for 2008.
To the surprise of many, Poland’s head of state earned 296,000 zloty gross in the last tax year, which works out at around 15,000 zloty - or 3,200 euros - in the hand each month.
The cash-strapped president revealed his yearly tax declaration form to the Fakt tabloid newspaper, Wednesday.
The presidential couple - Lech and First Lady Maria - filled out their tax declaration together and sent their form to the Srodmiescie, central district tax office in Warsaw, entitling them to a whopping 15,000 zloty tax rebate. (un/pg)
