Polish police have detained 56 people for suspicion of spreading child pornography over the internet as part of a nation-wide operation codenamed ‘Simone 3.’
Police from National Headquarters confiscated 85 computers, over 6,500 CDs and DVS, 15 USB drive, 8 other memory cars and two digital cameras in a nation-wide sting action on Tuesday evening.
The majority of those detained will serve as witnesses, police said, in building solid cases against larger players.
Child pornography convictions face up to eight years in prison.
The action is part of the state’s crackdown on pedophilia; last month, a total of 78 people were detained for similar charges. (mmj/pg)
