Poland’s minister of defense, Bogdan Klich, says that he expects that the situation in Afghanistan will only get worse in the coming months as snow melts and the extremist Taliban groups get more active.
“We are steeling ourselves against escalated conflict in our province,” stated Klich, referring to the Ghazni province that Polish troops control as part of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.
Klich added that the Ministry of Defense has sent more troops to the province than the American contingents previously had stationed there. Polish troops in Ghanzi now number 1600. (mmj)
