A passenger was run over by an underground train at Wilanowska station in the Warsaw metro system at 6 am this morning.
The man died on the spot. His identity and cause of the accident are still being investigated.
The incident caused chaos on the one-line system, with trains blocked and passengers forced to find alternatives methods of transport. A spokesperson for Warsaw metro said that delays to the service could last for several hours.
Last September a blind man fell under an approaching underground train. The 23-year-old survived but had to have his leg amputated. (jm/pg)
