• Rioting in Caritas food line
  • 23.03.2009

Rioting broke out before the Caritas aid organization in Wloclawek, central Poland, this morning as people waited in line for food packages.

People began to argue and shove each other to such an extent that an employee at the Catholic humanitarian organization called the police.

Around 200 people were crowded before the entrance to the organization waiting to receive packages containing basic necessities such as pasta, flour and milk.

While the organization reports that everyone did, in the end receive food, a spokesperson expressed gratitude for police intervention in the unrest. (mmj)
