• Herrings stuffed with amphetamine
  • 25.03.2009

The policemen in Ostroleka, northern Poland, have arrested two men who tried to smuggle herrings stuffed with half a kilo of amphetamine.

Polish ‘delicacy’ was supposed to be on route to Italy to be consumed in Florence.

The smugglers – both inhabitants of Ostroleka, age 21 and 26 – were stopped at the coach station just before their departure to Italy. While searching their luggage, the police found a dozen of herrings stuffed with amphetamine. The drug was placed in condoms, which were slid into gutted fish.

Both smugglers were charged with drug trafficking and could face up to ten years in prison. (mg)
