The four who died In the crash are: 36 year old pilot Captain Marek Sztabiński, 27 year old Lieutenant Przemysława Dudzika.48-year old deputy lieutenant Roman Berski and 43-year old 2nd Lieutenant    Ireneusz Rajewski.

 

Reports, Wednesday morning, sat that the airplane had been recently grounded for several weeks due to technical problems.

 

For some while the military refused to state the number of victims in the crash before family members had been contacted.

 

Defence Minister Bogdan Klich has already formed a special commission to investigate the cause of the accident. He also paid condolences to the relatives of the victims.

 

Minister Klich said the Bryza plane crashed at Babie Doly airport at around 5.00 p.m., Tuesday, while practicing a landing manoeuvre. All flights involving this type this aircraft have been suspended for the time being.

 

Spokesman for Poland’s navy Lieut. Bartosz Zajda said that Bryza is among the most secure aircraft used by the Polish armed forces and the machine that crashed was almost brand new. The Polish armed forces use such planes mainly for patrolling and monitoring the sea, as well as for transportation. (jm/pg)
