• Police arrest three on drugs charges

Three people have been arrested by police in Plock, central Poland, while transporting 1.5 kg of amphetamine in their car.

 

Spokesman of the Plock police, Piotr Jeleniewicz, said that the arrest was a result of an ambush set up in front of one of the supermarkets on the outskirts of the town, Tuesday.

 

According to the head of the local Central Bureau of Investigation, Andrzej Grabowski, the case is still developing and further arrests are to be expected.

 

For the sake of the investigation, the police refused to reveal more details.

 

So far it has been disclosed that the arrests were made after the police received information about the planned transfer of a large amount of drugs. In front of one of the stores in Plock the police officers stopped an Opel Vectra with three young people inside – two men and a woman. In the car the police found some 1.5 kg of white powder which turned out to be amphetamine.

 

For putting into circulation a substantial amount of narcotics the detained are facing up to 10 years in prison. (jm/pg)
