Former foreign minister, Anna Fotyga suffered several injuries after being knocked from her bicycle by a car, Thursday.  

The accident happened yesterday evening in the coastal city of Gdansk and Fotyga is now under observation in hospital.

According to witnesses, former foreign minister Fotyga was run down by a Mercedes while she was cycling. One car first crashed into another vehicle, turned over and then hit Fotyga’s bicycle.  

The former foreign minister is conscious and is expected to leave hospital on Monday.  

From 2007-2008 Anna Fotyga was the head of the Chancellery of the President of Poland. Earlier she held the post of the Polish Foreign Minister in the Law and Justice cabinets of Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz and Jaroslaw Kaczynski.  (mg)
