• No Polish victims in Italian earthquake

The Polish consulate in Rome has informed that no Polish citizens are among the victims in the earthquake that ripped through central in Italy this morning.  

 

“Media have not reported any foreigners among the victims,” the Polish consulate revealed.  

 

The quake measuring over six on the Richter scale destroyed hundreds of homes in central Italy at 3.30 CET this morning killing at least 27 people, including five children. Some 30 people have been reported missing.

 

The rescue services say that the number of victims is likely to increase.  

 

The earthquake’s epicenter was three miles from the city of l’Aquila, in the mountainous region of Abruzzo some 100 kilometres north of Rome. (jm/pg)
