A search continues for a couple of Polish tourists who have gone missing in the Slovak Tatra mountains.

Yesterday the rescuers searched through the avalanche area in Czarna Rakuska Valley in Belianske Tatras as they suspect that the lost couple – a father and a daughter – could be buried underneath 15 meter deep snow.

There are no witnesses of the accident but the rescue services have found the man’s car parked at the mouth of the valley.

The avalanche was also scanned by the Polish rescuers equipped with the RECCO system used for detecting people buried in avalanches as the Slovak services don’t posses such gear. (jm/pg)
